Membrane Technology
Gas transfer is enabled by diffusion of molecules through dense hollow-fiber membranes - thereby avoiding bubble formation and distributing the gas transfer over a vast membrane surface area.
Membrane Arrangement
The membrane blades create gentle circular flow patterns that take in cells at the top and bottom of membrane modules before sending them outwards again. This ensures optimal cell growth and media dispersion.

A vast membrane area of over 1000 cm2 per liter working volume enables excellent kLa rates across a wide range of RPMs.
Low Shear Forces
Bubble-free aeration & gentle mixing lead to a significant reduction of shear forces thereby improving cultivation of sensitive cells.
Simultaneous CO2 Transfer
By the nearly equal permeability (~5 ml/cm² *min*bar) of the membrane for CO2 and O2, the stirrer enables control of the CO2 level – and thus the pH value of your media.
No Biofouling
Smooth and physically treated membrane surface inhibits biofouling.
Optimal Mixing Conditions
Unique design of Membrane Stirrer ensures homogenous cultivation conditions & fast mixing cycles, even at low RPM.
In-situ Perfusion System
Additional cell retention system integrated within the ComfyCell vessel allows for continuous media exchange (in development).
